Veteran independent developer Sebastian Gioseffi has announced this week the release of Video Game Menu: The Game, a comedy game for PC that asks a simple question: what if the menu was the entire game?

Designed for avid PC gamers who love having as many options as possible, Video Game Menu: The Game takes the familiar world of video game menus and pushes it well beyond the point of reason. The result is something that starts as a seemingly ordinary video game settings menu but quickly spirals into a surreal nightmare of ridiculous options, forms, screens, and configurations. Seemingly harmless choices can lead to unexpected combinations and increasingly absurd situations, making you wonder just how far a video game menu can go before it stops being a menu and becomes something else entirely
“I started making the game while working on a settings menu for another game,” says Sebastian Gioseffi, developer of Video Game Menu: The Game. “I kept adding jokes and ridiculous options to it, and eventually realized that I was having more fun making the settings menu than making the actual game. So I decided to make a game that was nothing but that.”
