Independent developer Pixel Hound Game Studios opened a public playtest on October 9th for Mars Incremental, a short incremental game about terraforming Mars. It will run through Sunday, October 18th and anyone can join the playtest from the game’s Steam page. You can watch the announcement trailer here and the gameplay trailer here. The full game is planned to release on Steam in Q1 2027.
The studio has spent the last year building Mars Incremental and has reached the point where it needs outside players to tell it what is working and what is not. Players assemble a terraforming operation with the help of an AI companion that is helpful, kind of, and turn a quiet red planet into something new. Each terraforming step unlocks new upgrades.
What the Studio Wants to Learn
The playtest is about how the game feels in real hands. Pixel Hound is asking players to help answer a few specific questions:
- How is the pacing?
- How do the buildings and their interactions work?
- Does your build feel fun and powerful?
- How do the art and sound land?
How to Take Part
Players can join through the Steam page during the playtest window, October 9 to October 18, 2026. Feedback of any size is welcome, from a quick impression to detailed notes on a single building or system.
